More Lakeside Projects with Kim
“When I first laid eyes on the Lakeside collection, I literally gasped. The colors and patterns are so fresh and well, summery. It just doesn’t get much better than this! I have about 200 photos from our family reunion (held at a lake) that are just itching to be scrapped. Here’s the first of many.” - Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Lakeside Collection
Spend
a day at the lake and sing around the campfire at night with Lakeside, a new
collection from Pebbles. Icons of canoes, wildflowers and camping gear in
forest green, salmon pink and brilliant blue are grounded by organic brown and
chalkboard black. Complimented by gingham, polka dots, woodgrain and florals,
Lakeside is ideal for remembering sweet, summer days spent outdoors.
"What a collection Lakeside is! Every time I get my hands on a new line there are pieces that I can’t wait to tear into and create with first! In this collection I had to play with the Postcards paper and make ‘cards’ out of them. If you have postcards, you need stamps and the phrase stickers include some adorable ones! I layered each card with another favorite element, the gift tags. Those tags are the bomb, love the brown strings! The perfect finishing touch…adorable little bird accent stickers!" - Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member
"My parents just fulfilled one of their lifelong dreams of owning a cabin. Here in Utah our family does a lot of boating, hiking, camping, fishing and ATV-ing, so they've always wanted a place of their own near a lake where the family can gather and have fun year-round. They bought the cabin just before Mother's Day, so I wanted to make my mom a personalized Mother's Day gift that she could hang in the cabin that represented everyone in the family. Call it a "super sized scrapbook page." It was quick and easy to make once I had all the photos, but it meant the world to her and I loved seeing her expression when she saw it. The frame came from Wal Mart and was around $15. I embellished it with Pebbles new Lakeside collection and just a bit of Family Ties." - Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

Guest Designer: Kandis Smith plus a GIVEAWAY!
Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Kandis Smith! Let's get to know Kandis a little better ...
Describe yourself in 3 words … hmmm ... creative, learner, procrastinator.
My guilty pleasure is … chocolate! Chocolate cheesecake, ice cream, cupcakes ... anything chocolate!
You’ll never find me without … a camera of some sort. I usually carry my iphone with me. I'm still too scared to bring my Canon 5D Mark ii everywhere!
You might be surprised to know that I … competed in DECA in High School. I placed 10th in the nation for Restaurant Management. I have no desire to work in a restaurant though.
My least favorite chore is … the dishes. Ugh! It's really no fair that I have to do them everyday.
I started scrapbooking in ... junior high ... a LONG time ago. Back when we just threw some stickers on a paper an called it good. That was 15 years ago.
My favorite thing about this hobby is ... the creativity that it allows. Unlike other creative outlets, you can really try anything here. Be who you want to be. Unlike cake decorating or sewing which have to have basic principles and rules to look right, you can do almost anything with scrapbooking!
If I were a Pebbles product I would be … the paper flowers! They are colorful, dimensional, and have a little bit of bling on them! ;)
"I really love using little journaling cards to create the main focus of a card. This collection comes with so many fun ones to use! I paired this sweet bird card with a yellow paper flower and some bakers twine. Simple and easy to create! I would love to create a whole set with the same elements!"

My boys tried to steal it all from me before I even got a chance to make anything! The papers, stickers, everything go together so well, you will be able to make a card in mere minutes!"

"Here's another card using the darling journaling cards. I thought this pretty rainbow was just so cute! I created a simple card by adding gems to the rainbow and placing a label sticker next to it with a button for a little dimension. I added some blue and white checkered paper--I think the whole card is very "Dorothy" inspired! :)"

Sketchy Thursday
For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked one of our design team members to create a project based on this exclusive sketch by Becky Fleck.
"Anyone who knows me knows that I love sketches. This one was a lot of fun to work with because it was slightly outside my normal style. While I did make some changes to it I decided to challenge myself and stick pretty closely to the original design. I created a banner using my photos and one of the phrase cards from the Love You More Collection. This card also doubled as my title, just like in the sketch. Although it is hard to see in this image, the romper my son is wearing in the photos has cars on it and the colors in the car patterned paper are a perfect match to his outfit. I love how this sketch made me step a little outside my normal scrapping style but still allowed me to stay true to myself." - Donna Jannuzzi, Pebbles Design Team Member

Dear Pebbles
Good morning everyone! Today we are featuring cards from some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.
"I seem to always need cards for kids, and I thought I would put my stickers to use and make up some to have on hand for each gender. The accent and Phrase stickers make for great easy focal points on my cards, and to give them some added interest and dimension I added adhesive foam behind them." - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Making sweet handmade cards is easier than ever! Pebbles recently started creating the most fabulous little booklets to coordinate with their new paper collections - the booklets are comprised of 4"x6" phrase cards and 2"x3" phrase cards. The cards are really versatile and can be used in many ways - but my favorite way to use them is on handmade cards. By adding patterned papers and embellishments from the same line, the result is always a very coordinated and tasteful card. For this set of cards, I used the Family Ties collection - I just love the uplifting phrases that were in the booklet and thought they made perfect card sentiments!" - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday
"For today's project I am going to share with you how to make a shaker card envelope or goodie bag." - Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member
I am starting out with a few supplies as seen below, but will add a few more later on.
First we are going to make the shaker using a wood veneer frame, vellum, and some star sequins. I am using liquid glue for the vellu,m but you can substitute what you like best.
Adhere and let dry before cutting the vellum out. I recommend setting something heavy on top to keep the vellum from warping. Then flip it so that the vellum in on the bottom. Dump in some sequins. You can use a lot or a little.
Apply glue to the wood frame and carefully adhere the pocket on top. It is a little more difficult to get it on straight this way but if you are using liquid glue you can fix the position easily before it dries. If you prefer you can put the sequins in the middle of your pocket and adhere the frame over them.
Next I added some twine and a paper flower. I also used one of the Pebbles pennants to add more interest.
Next I am using a Pebbles treat bag. Before you do this next step add your card or treat to the bag.
Next close the bag, fold and adhere a doily in half over the front. It will be folded slightly over half of it ending up on the front.
When you are finished up add your pocket to the front of the bag. I also added a banner for the occasion that the card or treat would be for. In this case it is a thank you gift.

Mix and Match Monday
It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.
"I love these spring photos of my daughter last year and knew I wanted to use them for this project. I had a lot of fun mixing and matching “older” lines from last year, along with the Love You More, Basics and Party with Amy Locurto lines. I added some dimensional glaze in droplets to my title to make “rain” for a fun effect." - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Mother's Day Projects with Emily and Kim
"When I think of Mother’s Day, not only do I think about my own mother, but I also think a lot about what it means to BE a mother. I am so incredibly blessed to have two beautiful children and another on the way. Before having children, I never could have imagined how amazing it is to be a mom. I wanted my layout to really focus on how much I love my children and how much I love being their mother. I used my home printer to print out lots of tiny photos and arranged them in a makeshift grid. I knew when I was planning the layout that my heart would cover some of the photos, so I didn’t worry too much about the grid being perfect or spend a lot of time placing the photos. There are a few faces that are covered, but overall I really love the effect of the giant heart over all the photos of my kiddos. And the title, well, the title says it all!" - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Mother's Day Projects with Mandie and Laurel
"For this layout, I went back to Seen & Noted. Gosh, I love this line! All of the phrases in it just seemed to work perfectly for Mothers Day. I mixed in some bits & pieces of other lines, as well. We don't usually do anything "big" for Mothers Day - which is great. If I don't have to cook or clean for the day, I am thrilled! On this Mothers Day, we just went to the park, picnicked and relaxed. It was perfect!" - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

As a mom I would love to have something like this all filled out by one of my kids and would have it sitting on my desk so that I could look at it everyday. "I just love the cute polka dot printed bags from the Amy Locurto collection and thought it would be great for sliding a couple homemade cookies into. So I just decorated the front of one, slid in the cookies, and sealed it shut with some cute washi tape! Then I made a card in matching colours to go with it. "This simple layout features two phrase cards that come together to frame my black and white photo. I had fun using the green “Because I’m the mom...” phrase card in a unique way here. By combining it with the blue phrase card, the green card takes on a different meaning than it would have if I’d used it on its own. A rainbow of hearts punched from various colors of the Basics Mini Dot patterned papers adds a splash of color. I got a little sentimental with my journaling, but, hey, that’s what Mother’s Day is all about! " - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member
