Strawberry Jam Showdown

Lunch on Monday was accompanied by a Strawberry Jam Showdown! Ashlee and Lindsay both brought their "A-Game" and went head-to-head to see who could make the better jam. Both jars of jam were disguised in brown paper bags and labeled only with a heart or star. Everyone sampled both jams and placed their vote in the "official" box. It was close, 4 votes to 3...Ashlee pulled ahead at the last minute and won "Strawberry Champ at Pebbles!" Congrats Ash!!!

Pebbles Design Team!

I might be a little biased, but I happen to think that we have a pretty stellar Design Team! It's been great getting to know everyone a little better and putting names with faces. Hope you've enjoyed getting to know them, too!

It's been quiet around the office this week--it seems that this was the week that everyone took off for vacation! Do you have any vacations coming up? I went shopping at one of my favorite stores--Target!--the other day and all of their "Back to School" stuff was already out. Didn't summer just start?!

Here's to having a great weekend!

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Why scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been scrapbooking for seven years. After I had my son, my friend convinced me to go to a crop. I didn't want to go, but I ended up loving it so much that I have been doing it since! I love scrapbooking because it allows me to express myself creatively. I have always loved to paint, draw, make origami, and write poetry. I feel I can use a lot of those things in my scrapbook pages.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? Everything from TV commercials, print ads, and book covers inspire me. I love graphic design and I utilize that a lot in my scrapping. I create my pages in my scraproom! I share the room with my husband who plays on his computer when I scrap. I love that we can chat while I am creating, after our son has gone to bed.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Clean lined. Graphic inspired. Always a twist.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? It is so so hard for me to choose!! I love all of them, seriously ;) ! The "So Tweet" line is colorful and fun, it might be my favorite. I think my new favorite one from this newest release is the "Lil' Buddy" because it so fun for boys. Oh, and the "Little Miss" is just perfect for girls!

• Favorite sweet treat? Anything with sugar and chocolate gets my vote. I haven't found a sweet treat that I don't like to be honest. I am a sweet treat lover!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? We love to travel to Lake Michigan in the summer and stay at a rental property right near the beach. Everyone always has a great time there. I think I want to go to England and Ireland at some point! Hawaii was one of my favorite trips, although I haven't been back in 13 years.

• Were you named after anyone? I was not named after anyone ... at least I don't think I was. I do know if I was a boy, I would've been named Matthew!

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Why scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have practiced scrapbooking since 2006. Scrapbooking was not a well known activity in France at this time. We had to fend, even 12x12 sized pages weren't sold! Before hearing about scrapbooking, I liked to personalize my photo album with text, tickets and things...now I can't take a pic without a little scrap idea! How serious is that???!

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? The daily life, colors, ads, an expression, travels, each special moment...I practice in my scrap room. I would rather pratice in the garden but it's impossible because there is too many things to move around!!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. 3 words: Clean and Simple :)

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? So Tweet, the new collection Lil' Buddy :), Make a wish. I like stickers and ribbons too!

• Favorite sweet treat? Strawberries - ice cream (mmmmm :p) - Swiss dark chocolate
named TOBLERONE!!!!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Frequently we travel in the Netherlands and French riviera (we have family there). We were in NYC in 2008 for our wedding travel and in Montreal in 2009. We hope to travel once a year in US or Canada!

• Were you named after anyone? Yes!! When my parents saw the movie "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" with Maureen the gull, my father said at the end, "If I have a daughter, her firstname will be Maureen!"
I was born in 1984 and my firstname was Maureen! :)

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been scrapping for about 10 years now. My daughter, Kim Moreno (another DT member) got me started and I was immediately hooked. I have always been involved in creating from sewing and drawing, to crochet and knitting. Scrapping seems like such a wonderful way to preserve memories! I am inspired by my family which consists of 4 children and 11 grandchildren. I love to get ideas from sketches, ads and interesting designs I see around me.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? I am inspired by my family which consists of 4 children and 11 grandchildren. I love to get ideas from sketches, ads and interesting designs I see around me. I have taken over the study in my home and now have my own space where I try to keep everything organized and also have room for company to come scrap with me. My daughter and I love it when we can get together and scrap.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. I'm not sure how to describe my style as I think I vary, but mostly clean collage but can vary depending on the paper line.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? Some of my favorite Pebbles collections are Summer Days and Sweetheart. I love the ribbon and those little chalk stencils!

• Favorite sweet treat? Dark Chocolate

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? I love beach pages probably because it's my favorite place to be! Any beach - just me, sun, a little shade when I start to get toasty, sunscreen and a good book - I'm good! We frequently go to the coast in South Texas but the Pacific Coast has to be my favorite.

• Were you named after anyone? I was named after Debra Padget (who per my mother was a new upcoming star at that time). I'm sure that dates me - I've never heard of her. I have NEVER gone by Debra - always Debbie.

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Why scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I've been playing with glue and paper for about 8 years now! I had a neighbor that scrapbooked and asked me along to a Creative Memories party and after that I was hooked! I had always just done layouts but recently I have crossed over to cardmaking as well and I'm totally hooked! 2 reasons I love to scrapbook: One as a creative outlet to help me try and keep my sanity (try being the key word there) with 5 short ones running around the house. Two because I love knowing that I am capturing the everyday things my kids do and say on their pages for us all to look back on and enjoy.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? I am inspired by my photos and the story I want to tell. I also get inspiration from pattern papers and will go in search of photos (because I know I have a photo somewhere that will fit almost any paper! lol). I like to look through magazines and such but mostly my photos and products are what inspire me! I am not the best cropper mainly because I usually can't keep my mouth shut long enough to create anything so I do my best work at home, alone, with all my supplies standing at my table.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Real-I like to scrap the everyday photos and happenings. Clean with a touch of collage. Bright and fun!

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? Skipping Along Collection

• Favorite sweet treat? It would probably be easier to ask what is NOT my favorite!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Being married to the military and living in Germany for over 4 years I got the opportunity to travel a lot over there and I would have to say pretty much all of Europe I am in love with... I would love to go back!!

Meet: Michele Beck

Michele from France

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been scrapbooking for 3 years. After my second daughter’s birth, I wanted to make a birth album and I did some search on the Internet. I found a scrapbooking gallery and totally fell in love!

• Where do you like to scrapbook? What inspires you? I have a little--really little!--scrap room. So little that I don’t have to stand up to catch the things I need! Lol! But I love this place. No TV, no computer, only my music, that’s how I feel more creative. What inspires me? The life of everyday, my daughters and the love I have for them. Sometimes TV, magazines … and papers, or a flower, a ribbon, a colour … inspiration is everywhere! You just have to open your mind.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Only 3? Hum, really difficult … let’s go: Creative, feminine and delicate maybe …sometimes funky, colourful and different.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? I really love the “Lil’Miss” collection; love the colours, and the tooooo cute stickers!!

• Favorite sweet treat? I cannot resist some barley sugar, or all this candy which reminds me of when I was a little girl and I was with my grandmother. And of course chocolate :p

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? I’d love to travel to America, this is my dream, but I am too afraid because of the plane! I’d love to see Ireland too, and Canada.

• Were you named after anyone? No. my mother has chose my name, Michele. It was her favourite name since she was a little girl, and she decided to name her first baby Michele!

We loved Michele's style and are so anxious to see what she does with our products! :)

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Why scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I've been scrapping for 5 years. I've always loved crafting but never found anything that I kept at. I think having small children and tons of photos keeps me going. The actual crafting part of scrapbooking is just so much fun. All of the color and designing just soothes me. It's so different from my day job as an Analyst.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? I am inspired mostly by my photos and the funny situations my boys manage to get into. I scrapbook primarily in my scraproom - I do foray out to crops about once a month more to socialize than anything else!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Clean, simple, fun.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? Linnie Bell patterned paper - oh the colors!

• Favorite sweet treat? Dark Chocolate

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? We travel to Cape Cod a lot. I love the beach. I'd love to travel around Europe someday.

• Were you named after anyone? I am named after my mother's best friend in college.

Meet: Emeline Seet

Emeline from Singapore

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Started crafting 5 years ago after the birth of our first child. At that time, we as first time parents had tons of photos of our new baby. I got tired of just keeping them in albums. I decided to do something pretty with them. Once I got introduced to the pretty embellishments, there was no turning back! Besides scrapbooking, I also love to dabble with cardmaking and papercrafting.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? Advertisements, book cover, food label etc ... really, just anything with color makes me happy! I have a fixed place for me to do my craft. I am so used to scrapbook at my computer table that I cannot scrap outside it!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Colorful, bold, evolving.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? Pebbles papers, papers, papers!! Favourite collection: So Tweet.

• Favorite sweet treat? Chocolate.

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Hawaii. Went there for our honeymoon and just loved it!!

Meet: Christa Paustenbaugh

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been scrapping for about 11 years, but only 3 years "seriously". I went to a Creative Memories party on a whim and only scrapped sporadically. I picked up Cathy Zielske's first book and I was hooked after that. I found that a simple style was more of my style and it has evolved ever since! Why scrapping? I want my kids to know our family stories. The good, the bad and of course the ugly! They need to know quirks, the story behind the photos and what makes their family members tick. That's what keeps me scrapping.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? I love looking through other scrappers' blogs and galleries for inspiration. I can literally get lost jumping through links from blogs to look at all the creations! I scrapbook in our living room at the moment while watching whatever quality tv is on at the time! When my husband is home I get my best scrapping done during NFL season! My dream house would include a nice sized craft room with music and tv included-a girl can dream!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Story and photos first. Simple and Graphic. I love color!

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? I first fell in love with the Linnie Bell collection and have nearly used it all up! Love those colors! I am loving the Lil' Miss collection too!

• Favorite sweet treat? I have a love affair with chocolate that my husband knows about, and has accepted that he has to share me. There is no such thing as "too chocolately" to me!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? We have traveled to many places since we are military. My favorite places in the US that we have gone so far are Catalina Island, CA; Charleston, SC and my in laws cabin in the PA mountains. We have an upcoming trip to Costa Rica in the fall and I absolutely cannot wait! Oh, and my husband owes me a trip to Italy since it was cut 10 years ago due to a deployment!

• Were you named after anyone? I was not named after anyone. My mom liked the name Christa, but it is spelled many times with a "K" and she wanted it with a "Ch". My middle name is somewhat unique, LaChelle, and she found it in a book and really liked it.

Meet: Samantha Sibbet

Samantha from California

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been cardmaking for 13 years and scrapbooking for about 5 years. I became obsessed with paper crafting about 10 months ago when I discovered all the online resources. I have always loved beautiful papers and textiles, I like the way good cardstock feels in my hands- come on I know there are others out there! I scrapbook because I want my children to know what I am feeling, my love for them-my love for life! I don't keep journals, so this is my way of remembering the everyday moments.

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? I am inspired by photos and all my scrapbook stuff. For Christmas my mom bought me some great kitchen cabinets and a giant countertop to use as my design space, it's awesome and we set it up in the family room/play room.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. My style is feminine, a little bit vintage ~ with a homespun touch.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? I love the texture of Pebbles Inc. paper, it so thick and takes to sand paper beautifully. I adore the "So Tweet" line and right now I am loving "Lil Miss". I want to play with "Lil Buddy" soon!

• Favorite sweet treat? I really don't have sweet treat, I prefer the savory tastes. But I have always liked Sweetarts and Baskin Robbins Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream.

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Stateside I love New York City as a girlfriends trip, the food, museums and shops can't be beat. Abroad, Paris, France ~ too beautiful for words. I would love to see Venice.

• Were you named after anyone? I was named after a character in the TV show Bewitched, Samantha. My mom loved that show. Their second choice was Elizabeth.

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I've been scrapping for about a year--I love paper, the designs and colors. It is ridiculous how much paper and other supplies I have, yet I can't stop buying more!

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? My family inspires me. Whenever I am doing a project for my children--a page, a mini album, etc.--I always give 110%. They make it easy to finish a fun project! I love to scrap at my very messy scrap table at home!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Simple, bright, happy.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? I love the Lil' Miss and Lil' Buddy collections--the best yet!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? I would love to go to Europe with my husband--maybe for our 10 year anniversary??? :)

• Were you named after anyone? My middle name is Christine--my mom and dad gave my siblings and I all middle names that had "Christ" in them. I thought that was pretty cool!

Meet: Susan Dupre

Susan from Texas

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I started scrapping in 2007. When my baby was born in 2004, I thought it would be a great idea to do a baby book. Ok, so it took me a while to get to it, but three years later I joined Scrapbook.com, and the rest was history! I was a little sponge just soaking up as many ideas and talent as I could. The fact that I have only been scrapping two years excites me. I can't wait to see where my talents take me in the next few years!

• What inspires you? Where do you like to scrapbook? Well my subject is mostly my darling son, but my inspiration comes from the awesome and unbelievable talent I see in the scrapbook industry. You can often find me buried under mounds of papers and embellishments in my scrap room. Yep, it's that messy!!

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Ooooh, my style? Eclectic, evolving and never the same.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? I totally loved your latest releases!! They were so easy and fun to work with! However, my very first Pebbles product was my chalks!

• Favorite sweet treat? Pizza! Oops, ok that's not a sweet, but I am more of carb girl! If you twist my arm, it would have to be peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. :)

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Well, I have been fortunate already. I have got to see a lot of the world already! The Aussies are great, but my favorite places were Scotland and Italy (the Tuscany area).

• Were you named after anyone? Probably after fifty million other "Susans" that were born in the sixties -- oh no, think I might have spilled the beans about how stinkin' old I am!

Meet: Lisa Warren

Lisa from New South Wales, Australia

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? Its been 6 years already! I was invited to "some photo thingy" many years ago, and haven't looked back. I scrapbook most nights and I just love it! I've always loved photography, creative arts and story telling, and scrapbooking pulls it all together for me. Oh, and I never ever buy cards...its handmade all the way!

• What inspires you? When do you like to scrapbook? I can find inspiration anywhere! Sometimes its the product, or the photos, scrapping with friends, or by reading a magazine or blog surfing. I'm lucky enough to have my own scraproom, but I often scrap on the loungeroom floor or in bed (my poor hubby!). I love attending crop nights and retreats too! Its fantastic to scrap with likeminded souls.

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Colourful, lots of patterns and moment driven.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? At the moment, my fav is Linnie Bell - the colours are so rich and warm! I can't wait to get my hands on Lil' Buddy and Lil' Miss though!!

• Favorite sweet treat? Chocolate of any kind - hands down!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? Anywhere by the water is my idea of heaven! My hubby and I are planning a rollercoaster tour of the US when the kids are a little older. Love going on rides!

• Were you named after anyone? Mum originally wanted to call me Deanie, so I guess I dodged a bullet there! lol. Lisa was the alternative, and was just a name she liked. My middle name is in honour of a family friend.

Meet: Mireille Divjak

Mireille from the Netherlands

• How long have you been scrapping? What drew you to scrapbooking/paper crafting/card making? I have been scrapping for 4 years now. I started after the birth of my daughter, Amber. I always loved to collect and take tons of photos, write long (travel) journals and include all kinds of "souvenirs" from paper napkins to entrance tickets. I had never heard of scrapbooking. When I went back to work after Amber was born, I walked around with my photos of my first baby. I showed them to everyone! My coworker's son was 3 and I asked her if she still carried pictures of him to work. She smiled and pulled out the most beautiful mini album. I never saw something like that. Fell in love with scrapbooking right then and there. Loved the patterned papers and the pretty embellishments. I scrapbook because it makes me happy. I love the process and love to get my hands on creative stuff after a hard day of work. I also love to create a legacy for my children. Hope that they will love their albums as much as I loved making them.

• What inspires you? When do you like to scrapbook? I get my inspiration from everything around me. Whether that's colors, smells, nature, commercials on tv or in magazines.. and my kids of course :) I love to scrapbook at home, alone. I am not that great at croppin with my friends because I end up yapping about scrapbooking in stead of creating ;)

• Describe your style in 3 words/short phrases. Messy, Shabby chic, Romantic.

• Favorite Pebbles product/collection? My favorite product??? I am in love with patterned paper.. so I guess that's it.. (allthough I find the preglittered chipboard brilliant and droolworthy) Collection? Do I have to choose?! I can't ... urgh.. uhmmm... "So Tweet!"

• Favorite sweet treat? Chocolate!!

• Favorite place to travel or where would you like to travel? I love to travel to Pula/Croatia...the most beautiful place in the world (as far as I have seen)...would love to see Kathmandu one day!

• Were you named after anyone? Unfortunately yes...lol...I was named after this French singer that was very popular around the time I was born. My parents loved the name. I wasn't so proud of it because she was extremely dull. The name is ok I guess although non-French speaking people have a lot of trouble pronouncing it. It sounds a lot like "Mariah" (who is a singer that is less dull ;D)
