How To Tuesday

Today's "How To Tuesday" post is brought to you today by design team member Guiseppa Gubler.  Here's what Guiseppa had to say ... "Just like many of you, I love flowers and the more varieties I can learn how to make the more fun my layouts become.  I made these simple pleated flowers using
cardstock and patterned paper.  I love these flowers because they go so perfect with this baby layout, but will look good with any layout you do.  Just personalize them."  And here are Guiseppa's step by step instructions ...

First choose how many flowers you want to make and the paper you are going to use.  Cut your paper into 1"x12" inch strips.

Start folding the pleats at the end of the paper.  Make sure you are angling your pleats as you go so they will make a circle.

Adhere the two ends and if you have any excess paper, cut if off.

Add a cute button, brad or some chipboard and brads like I did.

This is how I used my cute pleated flowers!

Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday everyone!  First things first, for those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving this past Thursday I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  I have a winner to announce from last week's "Grateful" giveaway.  Thank you to everyone who left comments - I had so much fun reading them!  The lucky winner is ...
Congratulations April! Please email your full name and mailing information to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Grateful Winner" in the subject line.  Be sure to include the name of the collection you'd like to receive.  Now on to some Mix & Match projects from our talented design team!

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this beautiful layout in hues of green, yellow, and pink by combining papers and embellishments from 3 different Pebbles collections.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "One thing that I love the most about Pebbles products is the amazing colours, and the best thing of all is that you can totally mix and match colours between the different collections because even though they might not always be the exact same shade, there’s always a sense of unity between the different colour palettes. I wanted this layout to have a bit of a girly feel without going completely overboard with pink, so I took papers from the Cats & Dogs, Twitterpated and New Arrival lines to blend a pink with some greens and yellows. I just love the fact that even the themed lines are so versatile and can be combined with other bits and pieces to make something completely different from the original theme.”

Design team member LG Belarmino chose to focus on yellows, oranges, and browns based on the sweet photo of her baby girl in her amazing layout.  Here's what LG had to say ... "This photo was taken on my birthday last August.  I have had this photo printed since then, but had no opportunity using it because I was waiting for the right paper collection. When we were challenged to mix and match different collections from Pebbles, it gave me the freedom to select the color combination that will work best with this photo of my baby - I chose yellow, orange and brown. With a color combo in mind, I was able to decide which patterned papers, embellishments, and alphabet to use."

"With our theme of gratitude, I just had to make something for my daughter's teacher. The holidays are, of course, a time I want to share my gratitude for the extra steps that her teacher takes and often it's quite difficult to come up with a gift idea. I love the school house color theme of the Tree House collection, and thought that the big bold flowers would be the perfect touch to this quote canvas I was inspired to create. I made the matching card, with the perfect quote already printed on the 3x3 block. Bonus - one gift done before the holidays!"

"I have so much to be thankful for, but sometimes, I need a little reminder. I saw this quote in a friend's Facebook status and it rang so true. I enjoyed playing with the different materials from the Tree House collection and using this grid design. In a pinch, a grid design is one of my go-to styles. It never gets old and there's so many other things to do with it -- here I did some stitching for added texture and raised the patterned paper squares on foam adhesive for dimension. Theme: Grateful

Hey everyone!  First things first, we have a winner to announce from last week's Product Parade blog post.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment.  There were some really great ideas shared about how you would use our brand new Felt Embellishments in your next project.  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations Laura!  Please email your full name and mailing information to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Felt Embellishments Winner" in the subject line.

In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, this week on the Pebbles blog is all about being grateful.  Our design team members have created projects to celebrate who (or what) they are thankful for.  On behalf of the entire Pebbles design team and staff I would just like to take a moment to say that we are grateful for you, our blog readers, and your continued support of our products and our design team.  So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.  :)

Design team member Kim Kesti certainly has a lot to be grateful for and created this beautiful layout and coordinating card to document her gratitude.  Here's what Kim had to say ... "I am certainly blessed by a large healthy family; it felt really good to create this layout to celebrate that gratitude. I cut leaves with my Quickutz dies from a large variety of patterned paper. I love that so many different lines have colors that coordinate. In fact, I made so many leaves that I had extra and decided to make a quick "Thank You" card with the leftovers. What are you grateful for today?”

Design team member Anna Sigga created this sweet layout about the special bond between her daughter and cousin.  Here's what Anna had to say ... "I was really stuck regarding the "Grateful" theme for a while but then it hit me - of course I can create a layout without using the title Grateful, it's the feeling that counts isn't it? So I decided to create a layout about the amazing bond between my older daughter and her cousin Isabella. Isabella lives in Florida so the girls only see each other every 2 years or so - plus my lil one doesn't speak English. I was amazed to see such a strong bond between those two - no matter how far apart they are or the language barrier they managed to create such a strong connection."

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this sweet card to show her appreciation to her knitting instructor.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "I have always wanted to learn how to knit or crochet. Well, my best friend scheduled a private session so I could begin to achieve this goal. I fell in love with all the color and the different textures. It was overwhelming, but I was so happy to finally be able to learn this craft. Our instructor was simply amazing. She used generic terms, and was very patient with me. I am starting out with a scarf, and although I kept having to start over, I knew I had found a new hobby! I wanted to show my gratitude to her. Of course, for me it is through my love of scrapbooking! I created a card to simply let her know, I appreciate the kindness and patience shown to me. The Twitterpated Collection was the perfect color palette to express my gratitude to her."

Design team member Savitri Wilder used Pebbles chalk stencils to create this striking baby card.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "When I saw the stencils I knew right away what I wanted to do. So I grabbed a white piece of cardstock, very lightly traced the umbrella image with a pencil, and with my paper piercing tool I carefully pierced little holes around the outline. I didn't use any sort of measurement, I just simply eye-balled it. After all that was done I grabbed some embroidery thread and while talking to hubby I stitched. A sweet little embellishment later and a sentiment I got this little card. When I think of newborn babies I always think of how sweet and innocent they are and there's nothing more perfect than a little congratulation card which reflects that."

Product Parade: Felt Embellishments plus a GIVEAWAY!

Hey everyone! Today we are focusing on one of my favorite new products from Pebbles ... Felt Embellishments!  Felt Embellishments are a unique way to introduce some texture and dimension to your paper projects.  The best part is that all the hard work is done for you and since the Felt Embellishments are self-adhesive all you have to do is peel and stick.  Felt Embellishments are featured in the New Arrival Girl and Boy collections and the Cats & Dogs collection.

Design team member Laura Vegas used the New Arrival Girl Felt Embellishments to create these adorable hair clips perfect for the birthday girl.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "When I saw these cute felt flower embellishments, I thought they would be fun to use on hair accessories for little girls. I created these hairclips, using a piece of brown dotted ribbon and a felt flower embellishment for the center. A fun way to give these hairclips to a little girl, is to use them on an actual card. I created this Happy Birthday card, and clipped the hairclips right onto the paper, to act as flowers. They simply pull off the card, ready to be used."

Design team member Mimi Leinbach also used the New Arrival Girl Felt Embellishments on her project.  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "The thing that appeals to me about these new lines is that there are so many fun embellishments and that they are not just for "babies". I have now done several layouts with the New Arrival collections and not a single one of them has been a "baby" layout. I love the new rub-ons...layering them made for a great background for my monogram. The mix of ribbon, journaling spots, alphabet stickers, felt embellishments, candy dots, flowers, buttons in all these great shades make creating a layout so fun and easy. This is my pretty niece Adrienne...the pinks and browns in this line are a beautiful combo for a little girl's layout!"

Whip It Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone! Is the week halfway over already? The days are flying by and if you're short on time (like I am) then you'll love today's post. I challenged some of our design team members to whip up up a project in 30 minutes or less.

Design team member Melinda Spinks usually takes her time when creating projects so keeping her project to less than 30 minutes was a real challenge for her.  I'd say she aced it with flying colors, how about you?  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "When Lynn first presented me with the challenge of doing a project in 30 minutes I laughed ... I have never done anything in under 3 hours, even a card! So I took up the challenge and decided I needed a plan. My daughter came up with the idea as she wanted to give a gift to a friend who's gorgeous old dog had been ill recently. So the project was chosen, paper and embellishments at the ready, tools sharpened and in-hand, stop-watch set to 30 minutes and I was off! I must admit there was some fast and furious cutting and sticking, punching and chalking but I did it and had exactly 1 minute 27 seconds to spare! I have never seen my table in such a mess but I don't think clean up was scheduled into the time frame! Now my daughter has a sweet gift for her friend's pooch and I have a new personal record for speed scrapping!"

How To Tuesday

For today's "How To Tuesday" post design team member Deena Wuest shows us how to create this adorable rewards chart.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "To reward positive behavior in our children, I created this Rewards Board. If I catch them doing something good (like doing an extra chore without being asked, saying something encouraging to a friend or helping a sibling), I will tuck a little reward inside of their pocket. What goes in the pockets? Stickers, temporary tattoos, little thank you/love notes, etc. But I think their favorites are these little computer tickets. (They like to save them up like money and spend them all at once.) It's so cute to watch them walk by the board and see their excitement as they catch a glimpse of something in their pocket. It's funny how something so simple can mean so much."  And here are Deena's step by step instructions ...

First, you'll need a frame.  Scour thrift stores for a long narrow picture frame. I found this one with photo mat included for 25 cents because the glass was missing. Perfect! We won’t use it anyway.

Prime the frame with a spray primer and top with a coat of gloss white spray paint.

Select double-sided patterned paper. Place the design you want to use face down on the table, measure in four inches, score and fold. Repeat twice more to create three pockets.

Line up the three papers so the folds slightly overlap.

Adhere ribbon to the edge of each paper.

Place your photo mat face down and run adhesive along all four sides.

Turn mat right side up, position over the patterned paper and press to adhere. Trim off excess paper from the top.

Insert the mat in the frame and add small sepia photos to the front of each pocket.

Sew buttons onto paper flowers with embroidery floss and adhere the trio to one corner of the frame. Stack multiple pop dots on each other to create fun dimension.

Take a long strip ribbon and tie a bow directly in the center. Tie each end to the back of the frame and hang your new Rewards Board in a special place.

Print special coupons, tickets or notes of praise to tuck inside of each pocket.
