Free For All Friday

We're ringing in the New Year here on the Pebbles blog with some Free For All Friday projects.  From all of us to all of you we wish you a very happy and healthy 2011!

First up I (Lynn Ghahary) created a mini fold book using this tutorial by the very talented and former Pebbles design team member Lisa Johnson.   My sister-in-law snaps monthly photos of my niece Gia in the same chair with the same stuffed animal to help document how she has grown from month to month.  I thought a mini fold book would be the perfect little place to store these photos for a quick glance at Gia's growth during her first year (there are enough pages for her first 12 months).  My sister-in-law can easily print and paste Gia's photos in the mini fold book and I think it will make the perfect book to add to Gia's keepsakes.

"I always love the start of a new year ... so much promise, so many great ideas, and a time for renewal. This year I plan on getting more organized. I actually kind of am already but a little bit more can never hurt and a cute little memo book like this makes it more fun. I love a big purse so this 5x7 memo book will fit in great and I won't need to be searching through all my purse contents to try to find my tiny little note pad. Now when a great idea comes to me or I remember I forgot to add milk to my shopping list I can just jot it down in one place and know just where it is."

Add a fun layer of dimension to all your paper crafting projects with Pebbles Dimensional Stickers.  Dimensional Stickers are featured in the New Arrival Girl and Boy collections and the Cats & Dogs collection.

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson puts Pebbles Dimensional Stickers to good use on this layout about the New Year.  Here's what Wendy has to say ... "Last year I didn’t stay awake to witness the ball falling, hear the pans banging, or see the fireworks blasting, welcoming in the New Year.  But the next morning, as I looked out my window, my whole world was covered with a beautiful white frosting glow.  I couldn’t think of a more appropriate symbol of New Beginnings.  May your new year begin like these photos – pure and clean and white…a clean slate – full of beauty and potential!"

"I love these New Arrival Dimensional Stickers. They are so sweet and they go on cards, scrapbook pages, and mini books. I made this book for a little girl and she loved it. The inside of this book are just blank 8.5x11 card stock paper that I cut into 4.25x5.5 pieces. I could have gone with note cards but since she loves to draw I figured the blank pages would be more fun for her -- and easier for me since I have a lot of white card stock ;)"

Whip It Up Wednesday

Does the aftermath of the holidays have you short on creative time?  If so then you'll love today's post. I challenged some of our design team members to whip up up a project in 30 minutes or less.

Design team member Laura Vegas created this holiday layout in no time at all.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "I love that the Pebbles collections have lots of basic patterns worked into their paper designs. So that when Pebbles doesn't actually have a Christmas collection, I was able to use the Cats & Dogs collection for my Christmas layout. To make a quick and easy 30 minute layout, I started by simply adhering all my photos to my background cardstock. And then I cut some strips and blocks of pattern paper, to fill the rest of the space. The striped pattern paper had the color orange, which didn't work on my Christmas layout. So I did some small pleats along the paper strip, folding it over to hide the orange parts. Then I simply added my sticker title, a chipboard accent, and a few candy dots to finish off the layout."

Pebbles supplies used:
Cats & Dogs Prrrfect Stripe (751047)
Cats & Dogs Top Dog (751040)
Cats & Dogs Sassy Cat (751049)
Cats & Dogs Buddy ABC Stickers (732013)
Tree House Trunk (751034)
Spring Green Chips (744108)
Red Glitter Candy Dots (744228)
Chocolate Brown Ribbon (744027)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)

Staples (Tim Holtz)

Design team member Kryssi Ng created this fun layout using a watercolor effect on her background.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "With one of my BFFs recently engaged, I've been browsing wedding sites a lot lately. I came across this image, courtesy of oncewed.com, and love the soft watercolor effect swish swashes in the background and decided to emulate that in my layout. I sprayed some color from Smooch onto a silicone mat, watered it down and used a paintbrush to messily paint over my paper canvas.  I so love the rich colors in Tree House that is suitable to use in Christmas projects."

Tree House Neighbors (751031)
Tree House Fun (751035)

Other supplies used:

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this bright and colorful "thank you" card.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... ""With Christmas just behind us, I thought it would be a great time to start making some 'Thank You' cards to send to people expressing my appreciation for the lovely gifts they gave me for Christmas, and because it's still a busy time of year catching up with friends and family, it's good to be able to make something in not very much time at all! I love the 3x3 Cards that are part of each collection...they make it so easy to make quick cards because they have the sentiments already written on there for you, so all you have to do is just stick them down and you're good to go! Add a ribbon and an embellishment or two, and you've got yourself a fabulous card."

How To Tuesday

Today's "How To Tuesday" post is brought to you today by Kristen Swain. Here's what Kristen had to say "I love creating a matching card and gift wrap. I keep tins and boxes that are interesting and regift them once I've filled them and given them new life. Those who receive these gifts are doubly wowed, the outside is beautiful and the treats inside are yummy! I found these gorgeous cupcake shaped truffles at a store, I love that I could show them off in the tin because they are just so pretty."  And here are Kristen's step by step instructions ...

1. Cut blocks of Twitterpated Giddy and I Love You, then stitch around outside edge of Twitterpated Giddy, adhere to card base.

2. Cut and tear corrugated cardboard, then tear off top paper of cardboard.  Adhere Twitterpated 3x3 Card at an angle.

3. Adhere chipboard flower and dot ribbon to card.

4. Layer Paper Flowers with Epoxy Brad, add journaling sticker and chipboard heart to card, then add greeting with letter stickers and finish with Candy Dots.

1. Fill tin with treats, then tape sides and tie ribbon around tin with bow topper.

2. Cut strip of Twitterpated Giddy, wrap around tin, and hold in place with ribbon.

3. Add journaling sticker, Paper Flower with epoxy brad and letter stickers to tin, finish with Candy Dots.

And here is the finished project ...

Design team member Eva Pizarro mixed and matched lots of Pebbles goodies on her stunning layout.  Here's what Eva had to say ... "For this layout I used different collections combining greens, pinks and yellows. I love the versatility of the themed lines - the papers and embellishments can be used for all kind of layouts! More Traditions with Suzanne and LG

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this stunning layout to celebrate a relatively new tradition in her family. Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "I am all about tradition with my family, and sometimes the best traditions, are new ones! Last year, was the first time, my children had seen snow. Living in Southern California, we are spoiled with beautiful weather. However, every once in awhile, I do long for the change of seasons. Last year, my friends convinced me to tread to another city, so the children could have a day of sledding! I was hesitant at first. I love living in my bubble. However, in the end, I am glad they changed my mind! The children had a wonderful day playing in the snow, sledding, and even building their first snowman. We are definitely, making this an annual tradition. We will be going again in a couple of weeks. For this page, I used the Cats & Dogs Collection. The colors and the patterns matched perfectly with my snapshot! The back of Top Dog has a pattern that reminded me of snow, so my main embellishment is a large glittered snowflake! I also dusted the white New Arrival sticker letters with glitter too! I pulled in a flower sticker from the Skipping Along collection, to embellish the center of the snowflake. Love the playfulness of the Cats & Dogs collection, and loved that it captured our new tradition perfectly!"

"One of our holiday traditions is to gather with family on New Year's Eve to wait for midnight and open our presents. Then we all sit down for a huge feast called Noche Buena (Midnight Meal). I take advantage of the time before midnight to take some family pics while the kids are awake and excited to open their presents. I cut out the tree using my Slice machine and folded the spool ribbon to use as trim and positioned a few epoxy brads as the balls. I traced the bracket/journaling sheet from paper I have on-hand and cut it by hand. I found strips of doily lace in a baking supplies shop and used it to add some old-fashioned charm to my layout."

More Holiday Traditions with Lisa and Anna

Design team member Lisa Kisch created this festive layout to celebrate her daughters' visit with Santa.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... ""One of my favourite traditions at Christmas is taking the girls to see Santa. It's always a little dicey - I never know how they are going to react to the Big Guy. This year went pretty smoothly and we got a cute picture to boot! In terms of the design of this layout, I was pleasantly surprised at how well "Cats and Dogs" lends itself to the holidays. I used both patterned papers and letter stickers from that line for this project. I even used the red heart-shaped kitty tag to add my date. Then there are the red glitter candy dots - they practically scream Christmas! I mounted them on paper snowflakes and circle punches of generic red metallic wrapping paper. Have a look in your non-holiday stash to find supplies that are perfect for holiday scrapping - you might be surprised what you find!"

This is such a fun time and it always brings out the Christmas spirit in me and my girl. I decided to use the Twitterpated collection because it was just a perfect fit with all the colors in the photos - so it is OK to crate a layout about the holidays without using the traditional themed papers."

""Every Christmas we keep up a tradition with our Postie and leave a bottle of wine in the letterbox as a little thank you for delivering our mail throughout the year and to wish him a Merry Christmas. This year I decided that I'd dress the wine bottle up with a little bottle box and tag creating a simple yet festive decoration. And although I haven't used traditional Christmas colours or papers, the powder blue from the 'New Arrival' boy collection in combination with the red ribbon and candy dots still create a festive look to the gift."

Theme: Holiday Traditions

This week on the Pebbles blog we are focusing on Holiday Traditions.  Do you have certain traditions that are part of your family's holiday celebrations?  I've asked some of our design team members to share with us some of their Holiday Traditions using Pebbles products.

Design team member Kim Kesti shares with us a layout about decorating a gingerbread house for the holidays!  Here's what Kim has to say ... "“What could be better (and more fun) than using Pebbles Candy Dots on a layout about gingerbread houses? Not much! I kept the layout pretty simple and put most of the emphasis on the photos and the fun border at the bottom. I love using the Candy Dots because they are self adhesive; it’s easy as pie to whip up a cute border.  Happy Holidays, everyone!”
