How To Tuesday

"Today I'm going to share with you how to create an easy, pull-out money holder, perfect for a birthday card!"  - Ashley Stephens, Pebbles Design Team Member

To create this money holder you will need: standard card base (sized 5.5 x 4"), patterned paper, 1" circle punch, pencil, ruler, ribbon, button, sewing machine, and embellishments.

First, we're going to start out with several pieces of cardstock and patterned paper cut to the dimensions shown on the photograph.

Next, take the small, white piece of cardstock and mark the horizontal center, near the top. With your circle punch, punch out about 3/4s of a circle, using your pencil mark as a guide to help keep it centered.

Take that piece and center it on your 5 x 3.75" piece of patterned paper. You can lightly adhere it or just hold it in place and then sew around every side except the top, taking care to back stitch at the start and end points.

Next, take your smallest patterned paper piece (it should measure 2.5 x 3.5") and test the fit inside the white pocket. If it is too snug, take a little bit off the side until it slides in and out freely. Then, using your craft knife, cut a slit near the top, wide enough for the ribbon you have chosen. Make two more slits near the bottom 1/3 of the paper, wide enough to fit a dollar bill that has been folded in four.
Slide in your ribbon and fold it upwards so both ends touch slightly. Adhere them together. Add a button near the fold to cover it. Add folded money behind the slits you created near the bottom.

Next, embellish the card front as desired!
